Stevie Nicks doesnât have many regrets in life, but one of the few is apparently choosing not to vote until she was 70 years old.
âI never voted until I was 70, but I regret that. Iâve told everybody that onstage for the last two years,â she said in a new interview with MSNBC. âI regret that and I donât have very many regrets. Thereâs so many reasons. You can say, âOh, I didnât have time. I was this and that.â In the long run, you didnât have an hour? You didnât have an hour of your time that you could have gone and voted.â
The 76-year-old Fleetwood Mac star is making up for lost time by using her platform to urge others to vote in the upcoming American election. In September, she cautioned fans that âyour vote in this election may be one of the most important things you ever doâ on social media.
She also recently released a new song called âThe Lighthouseâ that she wrote shorty after Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022.
âWe have to find a way to bring back Roe vs. Wade,â Nicks added in the interview. âIn the end of the â50s and â60s and into the â70s, everyone was writing protest songs. Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, Stephen Stills â it was lots and lots and lots. I would say to all my musical poets that write songs to write some songs about whatâs happening like I did.â
