Cameron Diaz decided to leave Hollywood a decade ago to pursue other ventures and has never looked back… until now.
According to Variety, the “What Happens In Vegas” star elaborated upon her decision to pause her acting career at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit on Wednesday (October 16), citing family as one of the key reasons she felt it was time for a break.
“For me, it was just something I had to do. It felt like something I had to do to reclaim my own life. And I just really didn’t care about anything else. Nobody’s opinion, nobody’s success, no one’s offer, no one’s anything could change my mind about my decision of taking care of myself and building the life that I really wanted to have.”
She continued, revealing what she’s most passionate about:
“It really comes to: What are you passionate about? For me, it was to build my family.”
The last time Hollywood saw the star was in 2014 upon the release of films “The Other Woman,” and “Sex Tape,” to name a few.
Diaz is slated to return to the silver screen next year in Netlfix’s “Back in Action” (alongside Jamie Foxx) streaming on January 17th. In addition to the highly-anticipated film, the actress is expected to continue her role as the voice of Princess Fiona in Shrek as part of the franchise’s fifth film (currently in the works)!
