Three charged after aggravated armed robbery

Two men and a youth from Somerset have been charged with aggravated armed robbery and other offences following a disturbance in Burnie on Tuesday afternoon.

Police allege the robbery involved threats with a knife.

A 24 year-old man, a 21 year-old man and a 16-year old youth have also been charged with assault, possessing a dangerous article in public, drug offences and reckless driving.

Police say the three men and the victim were known to each other and it was an isolated incident.

They allege a witness was also threatened with a knife, but no-one was injured.

The trio appeared in an out of hours court on Wednesday night.

Police want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident in Wilson St around 1.10 pm.

They’re also chasing any dashcam footage on the manner of driving of a white Holden Commodore and a silver Nissan Pulsar in the Romaine, Shorewell, Park Grove and Montello areas as well as the Burnie CBD around 1pm on Tuesday.
