Tasmania’s tourism sector continues to bounce back from the pandemic, scooping coveted awards.

The Tasman Hotel near Parliament House is off to a strong start, having opened just before Christmas.

Mariott’s Luxury Collection brand’s first appearance in Australia was named this year’s overall hotel of the year.

The regions performed strongly.

Saffire Freycinet took out best luxury accommodation, Furneaux at St Helens won best restaurant regional, while in Devonport The Cove Tasmania and the local Cellarbrations were also recognised.

Tasmania fielded 22 national finalists.

“We always hold out hope to snare three or four awards, which we have done at the three previous editions, but to have five businesses take out success truly does exceed expectations,” said Tasmanian Hospitality Association CEO Steve Old.

“And to again see the awards spread around the entire state proves our quality offerings are not just limited to a single region. No matter where you go in Tasmania you can be assured you will experience world class hospitality and it is exactly why the state is viewed as a highly desirable destination.”
