Tasmanian AFL Masters teams are meeting with some success in Perth this week for the National AFL Masters Carnival.

The carnival caters for men’s and women’s teams from age groups including over 35s and upwards in five-year increments, right up to over 70s, with a number of Coastal footballers in the seven Tasmanian teams competing.

In the premier division, for over 35 men, the Tasmanian team, captained by Penguin NWFL men’s senior coach Dwayne Aherne, is undefeated so far and is second on the ladder behind host state Western Australia.

The Devils will play WA, also undefeated, on Saturday afternoon, in a bid to go one better than last year’s runner-up position.

It’s an identical scenario in the 40 and over 45 men’s competitions, with the winners of tomorrow’s Tasmania v WA games to be crowned champions.

The Tasmanian men’s over 50s and over 55s have had mixed results this week, while the women’s over 40s have yet to win a game.
