Tasmania SES is urging people in northeast Tasmania to monitor weather conditions closely, with a flood Advice Warning currently in place for the St Marys area.

Large rainfall totals have occurred overnight and into today, with 64mm recorded at Grey and 30mm at St Helens.

Rivers and creek levels are rising as a result, with minor to moderate flooding expected.

In the St Marys area, property, livestock, equipment, and crops in low lying areas may be at risk from flood waters.

Some low-lying properties may become isolated by flood waters within the next few days, and driving conditions may be dangerous.

Locals are asked to check flood emergency plans, monitor conditions, and plan to go to a safer place if you aren’t well prepared.

The SES has deployed crews to the area around St Marys Rivulet, who are ready to respond if needed.

Authorities are asking anyone who lives in the South Esk, St Paul’s and Break O’Day River areas near Fingal, as well as the St Marys Rivulet to monitor conditions and prepare for floods.
