Tasmania Covid-19 death toll skyrockets

Tasmania has recorded another four Coronavirus-linked deaths in the past 24 hours.

Three males in their 70s and a female in her 90s have passed away.

The passings takes the state’s pandemic toll to 113.

There are now over 160 Covid-positive patients in public hospitals, 44 of those people are being treated specifically for Coronavirus symptoms.

Public Health is now monitoring 10,178 active cases across the state.

State and Territory leaders have held steady on mask mandates, asking locals to use their best judgement.

Health officials are strongly encouraging Tasmanians to wear masks indoors or in crowded spaces.

Acting Premier Michael Ferguson maintains it’s our collective responsibility to look out for one another by continuing to follow COVID-safe behaviours.

“Practice good hand hygiene, follow social distancing and I’d encourage you to wearing a mask when you can’t, test when you have symptoms and stay home when you are unwell,” Mr Ferguson.
