Tigers legend Jack Riewoldt is being tasked with coming up with the “DNA” of Tasmania’s AFL team.

The recently-retired Riewoldt will head up an extensive consultation project known as The Fabric, aimed at building the team’s culture.

“The Fabric will represent each and every strand that makes up the rich tapestry of our Club, who we are, what we stand for, what we believe in, our history and our collective vision for the future,” he said.

The team’s inaugural board has also been unveiled.

Penguin-born ex-Woolworths Boss Grant O’Brien is the chair of the board which includes four women: Laura McBain, Alicia Leis, Kathy Schaefer and Kath McCann.

Former Brisbane premiership player Alastair Lynch, Roger Curtis, Graeme Gardner and James Henderson are the other members.

Mr O’Brien says he’s proud and passionate about the social and economic benefits the club will bring Tasmania by uniting us all.

“With key people now appointed the foundations are set to move the Club forward with the first task of the Board to put in place plans and priorities for the short and medium term,” he said.

“These include the establishment of a business plan, the timing of executive appointments, playing a role in the delivery of the required infrastructure including the roofed stadium at Macquarie Point and the Training & Administration facility, fan engagement and involvement, and the establishment of formal committees and working groups.”
