Scandalous driving behaviour

A woman from Hobart’s Tranmere was caught drink driving last night (Thursday) around 9.30pm with two little kids as passengers.

She was pulled over because of driving through a red light at the intersection of Oceana Drive and the South Arm Highway.

Her blood alcohol of 0.219 saw her instantly disqualified from driving for two years, but she was pulled over by Hobart police again at 9am today (Friday) in the same car.

Inspector Andrew Keane said it is only through luck that no other vehicles were in the intersection at the time the vehicle went through the red light, or the consequences could have been far worse.

“We are disappointed and frustrated that despite repeated warnings, some members of the public continue to ignore the drink driving laws and put themselves, their family and the rest of the community at risk of serious harm or death.”

“This sort of behaviour will not be tolerated,” he said.

“Our message cannot be clearer – you cannot drive safely if you have been drinking. If you want to drink alcohol, then do not drive”.

If anyone witnesses drink driving, or other dangerous driving behaviours, call police on 131 444 or triple-zero (000) in an emergency.
