Forensic police remained in bushland near Buckland northeast of Hobart overnight into early Tuesday after finding a man’s body in a car.
It followed a tip-off from the public about a vehicle possibly belonging to Glenfern gunman Robert George Greig being seen on the Arthur Highway at Sorell, prompting the deployment of the police helicopter and other resources.
Police say the ute went off road and caught fire.
Greig went on the run a fortnight ago after the 33-year-old fired shots at police vehicles responding to a family violence callout near New Norfolk.
A formal identification is yet to take place; police say circumstances don’t appear suspicious.
