Public service deal closer

Union leaders are sounding more positive as the long process to a pay and conditions resolution for Tasmania’s public sector workforce appears to be in its final stage.

Among the sweeteners from the state government are another three days of paid leave and a $1000 dollar retention bonus in addition to other one off payments and annual wage increases.

Tim Jacobson from the Health and Community Sector Union is now handing it over to the workforce.

“We have accepted that the negotiations have concluded on these agreements and now it’s up to workers to make a decision on whether they accept them or not.”

Government Minister Felix Ellis is hopeful a resolution is in sight.

“We are really optimistic this is a great deal for our public servants as well as fair and affordable for the Tasmanian taxpayer.”
