Police scrap hazardous materials in Austins Ferry

Police have confirmed hazardous material has been disposed of in Tasmania’s South.

Officers were called to an incident in Austins Ferry at approximately 3:15pm on Thursday, September 8th 2022.

At the scene, the residence was found to contain hazardous substances – which may have been used in the manufacturing of illicit drugs.

Tasmania Fire Service and the Tasmania Police Bomb Response Group were called to the address to assist with the disposal of the potentially hazardous material.

The material was safely disposed of without incident about 9.00pm.

Police would like to thank the public for their patience in relation to the road closures surrounding the incident.

A 30-year-old man is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
