Petrol prices continuing to decline

Tasmanian motorists are getting an early Christmas present, with fuel prices continuing to decline over the past three months.

The statewide average price, according to the State Government’s Fuel Check Tas website and phone app, is currently sitting at 193.5 cents a litre, having come down from this year’s peak of 211.7 cents a litre in September.

However, it’s still around nine cents a litre above the lowest this year, recorded in January, at 185.4 cents a litre.

It’s cheaper than that in Hobart at 179.9 cents a litre now though, while the best on offer in Launceston is 182.9.

The cheapest petrol on the North-West Coast is at Shell East Devonport, selling for 183.9 cents a litre.

It’s a bit more in Burnie, where the cheapest is Shell Wivenhoe at 185.9, while the best price for the Central Coast is at United Ulverstone, at 191.9 cents.

Zeehan has the cheapest fuel on the West Coast at 199.9 cents a litre at both Astron and BP fuel outlets.

The best price on offer in the North-East is 186.9 cents a litre at United Scottsdale.
