The rich culture, music and dance of the South Pacific will be on show at a festival at Ulverstone on Saturday.

The Central Coast Council will host the Pacific Rhythm Festival event in partnership with Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) Scheme, which provides the majority of seasonal migrant workers on the Coast during the fruit picking season.

The free family event will celebrate the vibrant culture, songs, and movement of the Pacific Islands through a lineup of traditional and contemporary music and dance performances by Pacific cultural groups and will include a free sausage sizzle.

Mayor Cheryl Fuller says the event will be a celebration of cultural connection and community spirit and a wonderful opportunity to showcase the incredible talents and cultural traditions of the PALM Scheme community in the Northwest Tasmania.

Councillor Fuller says seasonal migrant workers play a vital role in supporting local businesses and primary producers, and the council is delighted to host the event to recognise their contributions.

The event will start at the Ulverstone Soundshell from 5.30 pm.
