Outstanding students recognised

63 of Tasmania’s brightest young minds, including eight from the North-West Coast, have been recognised with a ceremony at Government House in Hobart.

33 received outstanding academic achievement awards for scoring a tertiary admission rank of 99.2 or over, while 30 students received awards for outstanding achievement in Vocational Education and Training , or VET programmes, including hospitality, tourism, engineering, veterinary studies, sports coaching and administration, and peforming arts.

Education Minister Roger Jaensch says those recognised are an impressive group of young people and Tasmania looks forward to seeing what they can achieve.

Coastal achievement recipients included students from Hellyer College and Marist Regional College, both in Burnie, Ulverstone Secondary College, and Leighland Christian School, both in Ulverstone, and Devonport’s St Brendan Shaw College.
