August 15, 2023 9:42 am in by

The much anticipated and long awaited replacement Boat Harbour Seawall on Western Bay project has finally completed.

Work on the $410,000 project started in May to replace the existing seawall, which has been deteriorating in particular over the past 10-15 years, causing serious coastal erosion at some places.

The replacement work involved carting 5,800 tonnes of rock from Highclere and is a key element of the Waratah-Wynyard Council’s $11 million Boat Harbour Master Plan.

Locals have taken to social media to praise the council on finally getting the job done and also the skill of contractors in placing the rocks into position along the 157 metre-long construction.
