New paramedics, to start duties next month, will go some way towards relieving the critical shortage of paramedics on the North-West Coast.
Health Minister Guy Barnett says the Government acknowledges the situation on the North-West Coast, which is why 13 of the 19 new appointments are being made to the region, to be based in Devonport, Burnie and other centres.
The new paramedics are a mix of interstate and overseas recruits.
Mr Barnett says the latest appointments are an example of the State Government’s commitment to boosting the state’s frontline health services.
He says the the latest recruitments come on top of 16 new Tasmanian graduate paramedics who hit the road last month, with three of those also being posted to the North-West Coast.
