It’s been a case of mixed fortunes for two Tasmanian cyclists in the opening stage of the Women’s Tour de France overnight.

Reigning Australian road racing champion Nicole Frain, of Launceston, finished 12th in the 82 km multi-lap stage in the Paris CBD, riding for the team.
Meanwhile, Devonport rider Anya Louw, riding for the AG Insurance NXTG team, struck mechanical issues early in the race and then got held up on the final lap by a crash in front of her, eventually finishing 119th in the 140-competitor field.
The second stage tonight our time will be raced over 137 km from Meaux to Provins.
