Police have charged a 52 year-old Wynyard man with a number of serious offences after he allegedly fled the scene of a fatal crash he was involved on the Murchison Highway near Yolla on Friday.
A 42 year-old motorcyclist from Malaysia was killed in the crash, which involved two bikes and two cars – one of them a stolen vehicle.
A second motorcyclist was airlifted to the Launceston General Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
The alleged driver pf the stolen car has been charged with manslaughter, causing death by negligent driving, causing grievous bodily harm by dangerous driving, and causing grievous bodily harm by negligent driving.
The man is in custody and is due to appear in the Burnie Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday afternoon.
