A Coastal jetty popular with recreational fishers and boaties, will be closed for urgent repairs, which could take several months.
The Central Coast Council says the Penguin Jetty will be closed to the public from Friday.
In a post on its website, the council says the temporary repairs will extend the jetty’s life by five years.
The jetty has been inspected monthly, with the council flagging last month the jetty was in a dilapidated state and could face closure.
It says the latest inspection the risk to public safety has since increased.
The adjacent boat ramp, which is unusable during low tide, will remain open during the repairs.
The council plans to include a redevelopment of the jetty, boat ramp., and surrounds in its 2025-2026 budget.
