Harmony Week celebrations will be held on the North-West Coast today to coincide with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, bringing recognising diversity and bringing together Australians from all different backgrounds.
A Harmony Day lunch will be held at Wynyard and the Live Well Community Centre from 11 am to 2 pm.
Participants are being asked to bring a plate and enjoy a shared lunch, as well as a bush food demonstration by author Rees Campbell.
After lunch a short film called “Scattered People” will be shown.
Haines Waterfront Park in Devonport will come to life this evening with the Devonport Harmony Week Celebration from 5.30-7.30 pm.
The evening will be filled with cultural performances, diverse food, and a warm, inclusive atmosphere with Samoa, Tonga, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, India, Ireland and Greece among the cultures represented.
