The Central Coast is expected to sign-off on a $1.57 million for a strategic housing master plan when it holds a special meeting on Monday night.
A report to be tabled at the meeting recommends the tender for the project be awarded to mainland urban planning company Ethos Urban.
The funding for the project will come from a Federal Government grant, with the planning phase expected to be completed by May next year.
The strategic housing master plan will look at urban design guidelines, sustainable transport, infrastructure, and community facilities.
Meanwhile, opposition is growing to the proposed redevelopment of the former Penguin Recreation Ground for housing.
A Housing Tasmania community drop-in session was well attended last week, while a community meeting the previous week was attended by around 100 people.
The majority of people at that meeting have concerns over multi-storey units and lack of parking and green space, want the plans torn up and a new village style proposal to be put on the table.
