Hobart man facing child sex abuse charges

A Hobart man has fronted the Supreme Court of Tasmania, charged with 46 counts of using a carriage service to transmit child abuse material.

Along with dozens of Australian men, Christopher Patrick Farrell was apprehended as part of the Australia-wide Operation Arkstone investigation.

The police sting uncovered a ‘predatory network’ of alleged child abusers.

Farrell faced 46 charges of using a carriage service to transmit child abuse material, and will also be charged with a further 19 charges related to accessing, transmitting, soliciting and possessing child abuse material.

He has not yet entered pleas, and was remanded in custody by Justice Geason to return to court in May.
