The support forms part of the Events Tasmania Major Partnerships Program.

Part of a statement from Sports Minister Nic Street:

“Tennis is a global sport, with the Hobart International event being one of only a few annual international sporting products in the State.

It will bring world class sporting content to Tasmanians in their own backyard, and delivers significant global reach through multiple television broadcasts and online media coverage.

90% of the tournament players travel to Hobart from overseas to play, in what remains the only dedicated annual international women’s tennis event in Australia, leading into the Australian Open.
