Former Penguin basketballer Sharn Hayward is making a name for herself in the North East Conference of the National Collegiate Athletics Association in the US.
Playing for Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts, Hayward has scored 33 points in the Skyhawks win over Wagner College – all frm the three-point arc – equalling the conference record for three-pointers in a game and setting a new record for the college team.
Hayward connected on 11 attempts from 15 shots, two less than the equal record holder, or a shooting percentage of 73.3 per cent.
Not surprisingly, she was also named conference player of the week.
While pleased with her efforts, Hayward was quick to praise her teammates.
