Animal rescue organisation Just Cats has received a grant of more than $420,000 to help improve access to cat management facilities on the North West and West Coasts.
The organisation has recently opened an adoption facility in Burnie, with plans to open a surrender facility at the same location.
Primary Industries Minister Jane Howlett says the facility will help promote responsible cat ownership, and encourage the management of unwanted and stray cats – which can pose a threat to native wildlife.
Just Cats founder Rachel Beech says the funding is very welcome and will provide a vital service for the region.
