The Burnie City Council has made disabled parking free for the foreseeable future.
The change took effect on Tuesday night after the council’s monthly meeting for October.
The free parking will be limited to designated disability zones only.
The council says disability permit holders will still be required to pay for parking if they are not in a disabled space.
Even though the parking is free, time limits will still apply in time-controlled parking spaces.
The council is also reminding permit holders if they are using the disability spaces in the city’s multi-storey carpark, they need to exit the facility before the ticket booth closes at 6.30 pm to avoid being charged the exit fee.
