Four municipalities across the Coast are gearing up for Food Organic, Garden Organic, or FOGO kerbside recycling services, which will start to roll out from Monday.
Thousands of wheelie bins with distinctive lime green lids have been distributed to householders and businesses in Devonport, Latrobe, Kentish and Waratah-Wynyard municipalities in the past few weeks.
The introduction of FOGO and the expected resulting reduction in waste going to landfill will also see general waste collections in Devonport, Kentish and Waratah-Wynyard reduced from weekly to fortnightly.
Latrobe already has fortnightly collections.
Central Coast has had FOGO services since 2019, but will also switch from weekly to fortnightly general waste collections to align with other Coastal municipalities as part of the new North West Recovery and Recycling group.
Burnie and Circular Head councils say they are considering introducing FOGO services next year.
