One of Australia’s most decorated basketballers has been named the inaugural Captain of the Tasmania Jewels WNBL side.
Hailing from Western Australia, Darcee Garbin came to the Tasmania Jewels as a multi-medal winning Australian Opal, having won two WNBL championships with the Townsville Fire, as well as captaining the Perth Lynx previously.
“I’m beyond honoured and proud,” she said.
“It is a great privilege to lead the Jewels, especially in our first season.”
Steph Reid and Keely Froling have been named as Vice Captains.
The Jewels first game is scheduled for October 15 at the MyState Bank Arena in Hobart and the first game at the Launceston Silverdome on October 31.
