The small Coastal town of Natone, South of Burnie, could lose yet another key part of its sporting identity, depending on the outcome of a meeting on Wednesday night.

Earlier this year, the Natone Football Club, which plays in the Burnie-based Darwin Football Association went into recess due to a lack of player and volunteer numbers.

It was one of two Coastal footy clubs to pull the pin, along with West Ulverstone, which competes in the NWFA competition.

Now Natone is potentially facing another sporting crisis, with the Natone Cricket Club putting out an urgent call for volunteers ahead of its annual general meeting tonight.

In a post on it’s Facebook page, club co-presidents Ash Rolls and Dean Vanderwerf say the club has a shortage of candidates for executive roles including president, vice President, treasurer, secretary and general committee members.

The post says the club won’t be able to continue as a club if the positions aren”t filled tonight.

It acknowledges the roles have been filled by some of the club’s best volunteers over the years but those people cannot continue in the roles forever.
