Jail time has been avoided for the woman involved in Tim Paine’s sexting drama.
Separate to Paine’s sexting episodes that led to his departure as Aussie cricket captain, Renee Ferguson stole $5600 from Cricket Tasmania and the Hobart Hurricanes while working there.
The 49 year old had only months earlier been given a 12 month suspended sentence for stealing nearly $30,000 from a previous employer.

The Chief Magistrate has ruled against activating that suspended sentence, ordering eight months home detention in southern Tasmania, noting the ramifications for Ferguson’s attempt for a fresh start in Victoria where she has secured employment.
