The Devonport, Central Coast, Latrobe and Kentish Councils will be asked to consider taking over ownership of the Devonport Airport.

The airport is currently owned by TasPorts, which according to Devonport City Councillor Steve Martin, has done little to promote the facility.

Devonport Mayor Alison Jarman says the four councils already collaborate with ownership and operation of the Dulverton Regional Waste Management facility and other matters.

Although the Burnie City Council has 51 per cent ownership of the Wynyard Airport, the Devonport Airport is wholly owned by Tasports, which Councillor Jarman says it’s not realising it’s full potential.
