The Cradle Coast Authority has released its federal election wish-list, with completion of the Coastal Pathway project high on the agenda.
When completed, the 110km pathway will run from Latrobe to Wynyard, but currently has two uncompleted sections, namely, a 10km stretch from South Burnie to Howth, and one of similar distance from West Ulverstone and Penguin.
The two missing links are also arguably the most technically demanding engineering-wise and subsequently also the most expensive, likely to cost around $50 million to complete.
The Cradle Coast Authority is also asking election candidates to support $1.5 million for the development of a roadmap to regional planning and engagement, $325,000 for activation of a clean energy skills and training network, $450,000 to help councils adapt to climate change, and $2.2 million to continue the authority’s on-going natural resource management work.
