A man who rode around Australia on a recumbent cycle in 2023 to raise awareness about children having strokes, is bringing his message to Tasmania later this month.
Tommy Quick, suffered a stroke as a 12 year-old 20 years ago, says it’s not just the elderly who can be affected by stroke.
Mr Quick rode his cycle, which requored him to lay down, from the southern-most point on the mainland to the Eastern, Northern and Western-most points of the country, and will ride from Marrawah in the far North-West to Cockle Creek in the South of the state in his Takin’ On Tassie Charity ride.
His 1100 km Tasmanian trek starting on March 15th, will take him through Smithton, Boat Harbour, Wynyard, Penguin, Devonport and Harford, before going to Eddystone Point in the North-East and then heading South.
Mr Quick, whose speech has been affected by his stroke, is inviting other riders to join him for parts of the journey.
