Sporting clubs across the Coast are again being invited to nominate for a chance to win $10,000 in the Ladbroke’s Community Sports Series as part of the Tasmanian Summer Racing Festival.
The event will again be held in conjunction with the Devonport, Launceston and Hobart Cups, with the Coastal component linked to the Ladbroke’s Carpet Charge on the Devonport Cup programme on January 8th.
Ten lucky clubs will draw a horse in the event, which is also Australia’s richest sprint race on a synthetic surface, with a $20,000 prize pool, including $10,000 for the winner down to $500 for clubs whose horse is placed sixth or worse.
It will be the third year the event series has been run, with previous Devonport Cup day winners being the Rosebery Athletic Club in 2023 and the Turners Beach Cricket Club this January.
The first major lead-up event to the Devonport Cup, the Ladbroke’s Golden Mile, will be the feature event on this Friday night’s Devonport Racing Club twilight programme, with the winner of the $50,000 race gaining automatic entry into the Devonport Cup.
