It might still be 11 months away, byt the Burnie City Council is already in preliminary planning mode for a community New Year’s Eve celebration.
Last month’s Fire on the Foreshore event, which included Tasmania’s first ever New Year’s Eve drone show, drew a record crowd of 10 and a half thousand people.
The council is keen to keep that momentum going and has put the call out for any community organisation or group interested in running a New Year’s Eve event.
Whether it’s another drone show, or a return to a more traditional fireworks display in uncertain, but Burnie Deputy Mayor Giovanna Simpson says the council is open to any and all suggestions, not only just for New Year’s Eve.
