Blotto driver in Rose Bay

A 39 year old Lindisfarne man involved in a two vehicle crash at Hobart’s Rose Bay yesterday afternoon (Friday) had 0.25 blood alcohol.

He lost his licence on the spot for two years and is to go to court.

‘This is an example of poor decision making and an example of what we are trying to stop.

This man was five times over the limit and should have never got behind the steering wheel of a car.

It is only chance that nobody was injured.’

When it comes to the 50 road deaths in Tasmania last year, Scott Tilyard from the Road Safety Advisory Council is finding things are not turning around.

“So far the figures are actually worse than last year, we have actually had slightly more people killed so far this year and about a 70% increase on people seriously hurt on our roads compared to last year.”
