Big ticket projects among Labor’s Braddon priorities

State Labor has released a list of election promises for the Braddon Electorate if it wins Government on March 23rd.

The two big-ticket items focus on a $30 million grant to TasRacing to build the proposed new harness racing and greyhound facility at Wesley Vale and $30 million towards the Burnie City Council’s CBD revitalisation project, while Labor has matched the $25 million promised by the Liberals for the final funding component of the $60 million Devonport Sports Precinct Mater Plan.

The opposition says it will also make completion of the Coastal Pathway between Latrobe and Wynyard, although is hasn’t said how the Heybridge to Burnie section will be funded, with the Burnie City Council no longer considering it a priority.

Other promises include creating a working group to establish a community house at East Devonport, a child and learning centre at Smithton, and re-opening the hydrotherapy pool at the North West Regional Hospital in Burnie.

Labor also says it will establish a permanent presence on the North-West Coast for the Police and Community Emergency Response, or PACER, mental health unit, which has been promised by the Liberal Government but to date only delivered to Launceston and Hobart.
