$4.6m Coastal drugs haul is Tasmania’s biggest

One of the men accused of a importing a massive amount of drugs into Tasmania has made bail in Hobart.

Police call it the largest seizure of drugs in the state’s history, 4 kilos of cocaine and 3 kilos of methyl-amphetamine worth $4.6 million.

Two men are alleged to have arrived at Rocky Cape in the North-West west by boat from Victoria on Thursday last week, when they were intercepted by police.

34 year old Craig Aaron Castle of Elderslie, ion the South of the state, was granted bail for an appearance in Devonport’s Magistrates Court on January 25.

Swansea’s Joshua Charles Hay is to remain in custody, with the 40 year old’s bail application adjourned to that same date]

Police say the latest seizure follows a haul of two kilograms of cocaine and four kilograms of meth following a targeted police operation in Devonport last month.
