Tasmania has recorded 1,410 new cases of Covid-19 overnight.
There are currently 36 people in hospital being treated specifically for Covid symptoms.
Sadly, a woman in her 70’s has passed away in the State’s North.
There are now 10,411 active cases across Tasmania, with over 200,000 people recovering from Covid-19.
Public Health officials have previously explained that fluctuations in daily case numbers are a part of living with Covid-19.
Applications for the newly reinstated Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment will be accepted from 8am this Wednesday, July 20.
The payment provides support for people who are unable to earn an income because they have to self-isolate or quarantine due to COVID-19; or care for someone who has to self-isolate or quarantine due to COVID-19.
States and territories have agreed to share the costs of the payment 50:50.
Eligibility for the payment will be backdated to July 1 2022, to ensure that anyone unable to work owing to isolation requirements in this period and does not have access to paid sick leave, is supported.
Premier Jeremy Rockliff has maintained that this wave of Covid-19 is expected to be with us until the end of September.
“National Cabinet reinforced recent messaging from the Australian Health Protection Principle Committee (AHPPC) that masks are strongly recommended when indoors or where you are not able to socially distance, however mask-wearing is a personal responsibility and will not be mandated.”
