The Devonport City Council is the envy of other Coastal councils, revealing a $14.1 million surplus in its 2023-2024 annual report.
The report says the result is $4 million better than budgeted.
During the year the council also spent $17.2 million on capital works projects, including upgrades to Kelcey Tier Road at Spreyton and new shared pathways at Spreyton and Lillico Straight.
Devonport Mayor Alison Jarman says the report highlights the success of the Living City urban renewal project.
Councillor Jarman says major highlights include the opening of the waterfront sound and light show and securing funding for the $60 million Devonport Sports Precinct project.
She says the council remains committed to innovation, improvement, and collaboration with stakeholders, partners and the community.
The annual report will be formally presented at the council’s annual general meeting on October 28th.
