January’s Burnie Historical Society’s General Meeting and Public Talk

The Burnie Historical Society’s January General Meeting and Public Talk will be held on Thursday 15 January at 7.30pm, at the Burnie Library (first floor), with access via the rear entrance on Little Alexander Street.

This month’s speaker is Chris Banks, long-time volunteer and Life Member of the Burnie Regional Museum.

To ensure visitors to the Burnie Regional Museum could continue to purchase and enjoy the much-loved publication Picturing the Past, the Friends of the Museum committed to reprinting the book. What began as a straightforward reprint soon evolved into a major project, far larger than originally anticipated.

The project was led by Friend and volunteer Chris Banks, who will take us through the challenges and milestones encountered along the way, and how the project was ultimately brought to a successful conclusion.

The result is Windows to the Past — a new, high-quality and affordable souvenir book celebrating Burnie’s history.
