Beauty Point harness racing trainer Rohan Hillier will be looking to go one better with Windy Hanover than his last start when he lines up for the 7BU Burnie Cup on Sunday.
The 11-year-old gelding finished second in the North East Pacing Cup at Scottsdale earlier this month and has drawn the coveted pole position for Sunday’s 2789m standing start feature race.
Hillier, who is also an accomplished driver, has three horses running in the cup and has chosen to sit in behind All By Myself, who will start on the outside of the front row in gate six.
His other runner, Jimmy The Irishman, will be driven by Connor Crook.
The cup will be the main race on the Burnie Harness Racing Club’s eight-event twilight programme, set to start at 5.19 pm
Gates at the Wivenhoe Showground will open at 12 noon, with the first race at 2.09 pm and the final event at 6.23.
The programme will include live entertainment, children’s activities and fashions on the field.
Meanwhile, the Devonport Harness Racing Cup, which hasn’t been held in Devonport since the Devonport Showground was sold almost three years ago, will again be held in Launceston on February 8th.
