A man who was shot by police in Launceston this morning [Tuesday] has died in hospital.
Officers were called to the CBD at around 10 o’clock and tried to negotiate with the man who was armed with a knife.
Investigations indicate he ignored repeated warnings by police to disarm and even after being OC sprayed continued to advance at the officers who fired, hitting him in the chest twice.

Sections of St Johns and Cimitiere Streets remain closed where there’s a crime scene declared.
