Waratah-Wynyard Council general manager Shane Crawford will replace Burnie GM Simon Overland after he steps down in November.

His appointment was announced by the Burnie City Council yesterday, with Mayor Teeny Brumby saying she was looking forward to welcoming Mr Crawford back to Burnie, where he commenced his career in Local Government 20 years ago.

In the interim, Mr Crawford also worked for the Devonport City Council for seven years as executive manager of corporate, community and business services.

Councillor Brumby says Mr Crawford’s successful leadership of the Waratah-Wynyard Council has led to effective financial management while still delivering all of the council’s core responsibilities, in addition to developing new projects of significance for the Waratah-Wynard
area, making him a logical choice for the job.

Waratah-Wynyard Mayor Mary Duniam says her council is sorry to lose Mr Crawford, but wishes him well and will advertise for his replacement shortly.
