The achievements of some of the North-West Coast’s Olympians with a connection to the Central Coast will be celebrated during the Paris Games with a special exhibit at Hive at Ulverstone, opening at the weekend.
The exhibit will feature the careers of cyclist Amy Cure, triathlete Craig Walton and Ulverstone-born tennis player Richard Fromberg.
Amy Cure was a multiple world champion and multiple Commonwealth Games gold medallist who represented Australia at the 2012 London Olympics and the 2016 Rio de Janeiro games, retiring when the 2020 Tokyo Olympics were postponed for a year due to the pandemic.
Craig Walton was a world elite men’s triathlon championship bronze medallist and represented Australia in his home Olympics in Sydney in 2000.
Tennis player Richard Fromberg was once ranked number 24 in the world and represented Australia in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics in the men’s singles.
He retired from international competition in 2004 and is currently a coach with the Australian Institute of Sport.
The exhibition will open on Saturday afternoon and run through until November 10th.
