The Health and Community Services Union has raised concerns over paramedic staffing levels on the North-West Coast and West Coast during the Easter break.
HACSU industrial manager Lucas Digney says the entire West Coast and Circular Head region has been covered by one paramedic since Wednesday, which looks likely to continue through Easter.
He says there’s no coverage for Zeehan or Queenstown and Smithton is covered by an on-call paramedic.
Mr Digney says the situation is systematic of staffing levels on the North-West Coast, which the union says are inadequate.
He fears if an emergency occurs on the West Coast or Circular Head over Easter, crews could be pulled away from already under-resourced coverage in Burnie or Devonport.
