A violent Hobart woman who left her friend blind in one eye after a vicious attack with a high-heel shoe in late 2021 is behind bars.
Katie Maree Job became angry when the man asked why she wanted to use his phone and repeatedly struck him with a stiletto, leaving him covered in blood in front of terrified bystanders.
The 32-year-old – whose priors include multiple assaults on police – pleaded guilty to a count of causing grievous bodily harm.
She’s been given two and a half years with the chance of parole after half that.
“Apart from the defendant’s plea of guilty and her remorse, there is little that can be said that is of any significance in mitigation,” said Justice Stephen Estcourt in sentencing.
“This was a vicious crime and it was continued after the complainant begged the defendant to stop. The complainant lost the sight of an eye.”
