A service station in Tasmania’s south will be closed for a number of days after a late night car crash.
At 9:10pm last night, a red 2001 BMW sedan was turning left onto the Brooker Highway from Burnett Street in North Hobart.
It’s believed the 32-year-old driver lost control when accelerating, the vehicle crashing into two petrol bowsers at the Ampol Service Station.
Traffic was diverted from Brooker Highway for an hour whilst Tasmania Police and Tasmania Fire Service managed the scene.
The crash has caused an estimated $80,000 worth of damage, with repairs underway.
Police have spoken to witnesses in the immediate area, while collecting CCTV footage.
Officers are aware that further members of the public may have witnessed the incident, anybody able to provide further information is asked to contact police on 131 444.
