The search for a missing man off Tasmania's east coast has ended in tragedy.
A commercial fisherman found the man's boat drifting in calm water with no one on board north of Maria Island on Sunday afternoon.
The missing man had left Triabunna that morning to go crayfishing.
A combined sea and air search, including recreational and commercial boats, found the body of the man in his 60s in the water around 4 pm.
A report is being prepared for the coroner.
EARLIER: A boat has turned up with no one on board, prompting a search for a missing person around Maria Island off Tasmania's East Coast.
Police say a fisherman raised the alarm after discovering the unoccupied vessel floating in the area.
Marine and rescue resources have been deployed to the north of Maria Island, as well as the Westpac Rescue Helicopter which has been dispatched from Hobart.
Nearby recreational and commercial vessels have also been alerted via marine radio to join the search.
